Sustainability should mean more than maintaining parks, facilities and services—it should mean having a long-term plan to protect the services our community relies on.

Throughout my career in parks and recreation, I have managed budgets, overseen capital projects, developed programs, and worked with community partners. That experience has reinforced my belief that strong public agencies must balance community needs with responsible stewardship of public resources.

My approach to sustainability includes:

• Fiscally sustainable planning so the District can continue providing quality parks, facilities, programs and services while making thoughtful use of public resources.

• Thoughtful investment in facilities and infrastructure by maintaining what we have, planning ahead for replacement and improvement needs, and making decisions with long-term value in mind.

• Strong community partnerships that help strengthen services, expand opportunities, and keep the District connected to the people it serves.

• Supporting District staff and the management team by providing clear policy direction, maintaining open and respectful communication, and giving staff the support they need to successfully carry out the District’s goals.

As our community continues to rebuild and grow, we have a responsibility to make decisions that create lasting value. I believe resilience should be part of every major decision we make—ensuring our programs, facilities, and investments remain fiscally sustainable, adaptable, and responsive to the changing needs of our community.
